DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce a new workshop! The Art of Fabric Bending  will be taught by Michelle Wilke @ml_wilke on Saturday\, September 14 from 10 – 4 pm. The workshop will be held at the classroom location of Bernina World of Sewing\, 6013 Glenwood Ave\, Raleigh. \nFrom Michelle – “In this class\, let us take a new look at strip piecing by folding in improvisation techniques and manipulating the fabrics to add soft curves or waves into our designs. You will design your own quilt layout using soft curves and start constructing your strip-pieced quilt\, on the fly\, with the aid of a design wall.” \nMember workshop fee is $40. Registration opens Saturday\, August 3 – members will receive an email with registration link at 10 am. Non-member registration will open in late August. \nCancellation policy: Refunds are available only if your workshop seat is filled by someone on the waitlist. A $5 fee will be retained to cover transaction fees.

DESCRIPTION:For our August meeting\, we are thrilled to host Kenzie Barrett (@kenzie.m.barrett) to talk about natural dying and quilting. Kenzie’s lecture will walk through each component of her Close to Home quilt with an emphasis on growing\, processing\, and dyeing with indigo. Throughout her presentation\, you’ll have a chance to see indigo vat ingredients\, natural dye stuffs\, and\, if the growing season doesn’t go awry\, live indigo plants that produce beautiful blues. \nJoin us on August 11\, 3-5 pm at the Brier Creek Community Center for sewing and community. Kenzie will also have some dye samples and other goodies to purchase.  \nReminder! If you signed up for the coaster swap\, please bring your coaster set to give to your assigned recipient. SUMMARY:July Guild Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Our July 14 guild meeting is a sew-in! Bring along your sewing machine and a project or just some handwork and sit and chat with other guild members while you sew. We are meeting at the Brier Creek Community Center from 3 – 5 pm. We will have ironing and cutting stations\, as well as make & takes. \nWe will also be working on our community quilt for QuiltCon 2025 Phoenix. We are using a quilt design (with permission) by Daisy Aschehoug @warmfolk. (See photos of her version.) The first task is to sew forty-eight 12” strip blocks which will then be transformed into large drunkard path blocks! We would love for as many members as possible to participate in the creation of our community quilt. If you’d like to contribute\, bring your sewing machine and light colored thread  and grab a block kit.  \nGuild meetings are held the 2nd Sunday of the month from 3 – 5 pm at the Briar Creek Community Center\, 10810 Globe Rd\, Morrisville.
