DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce a new workshop! The Art of Fabric Bending  will be taught by Michelle Wilke @ml_wilke on Saturday\, September 14 from 10 – 4 pm. The workshop will be held at the classroom location of Bernina World of Sewing\, 6013 Glenwood Ave\, Raleigh. \nFrom Michelle – “In this class\, let us take a new look at strip piecing by folding in improvisation techniques and manipulating the fabrics to add soft curves or waves into our designs. You will design your own quilt layout using soft curves and start constructing your strip-pieced quilt\, on the fly\, with the aid of a design wall.” \nMember workshop fee is $40. Registration opens Saturday\, August 3 – members will receive an email with registration link at 10 am. Non-member registration will open in late August. \nCancellation policy: Refunds are available only if your workshop seat is filled by someone on the waitlist. A $5 fee will be retained to cover transaction fees.

Kenzie’s lecture will walk through each component of her Close to Home quilt with an emphasis on growing\, processing\, and dyeing with indigo. Throughout her presentation\, you’ll have a chance to see indigo vat ingredients\, natural dye stuffs\, and\, if the growing season doesn’t go awry\, live indigo plants that produce beautiful blues. \nJoin us on August 11\, 3-5 pm at the Brier Creek Community Center for sewing and community. DESCRIPTION:Our July 14 guild meeting is a sew-in! Bring along your sewing machine and a project or just some handwork and sit and chat with other guild members while you sew. We are meeting at the Brier Creek Community Center from 3 – 5 pm. We will have ironing and cutting stations\, as well as make & takes. \nWe will also be working on our community quilt for QuiltCon 2025 Phoenix. We are using a quilt design (with permission) by Daisy Aschehoug @warmfolk. (See photos of her version.) The first task is to sew forty-eight 12” strip blocks which will then be transformed into large drunkard path blocks! We would love for as many members as possible to participate in the creation of our community quilt. SUMMARY:Einstein Tile and EPP Workshop
DESCRIPTION:We are very excited to announce our next guild workshop – Einstein Tiles and English Paper Piecing presented by Itnuit Janovitz \nLast year\, a newly discovered shape – called an einstein tile – grabbed the attention of mathematicians and quilters! The “Einstein Tile” is a thirteen-sided shape that covers a plane using only itself\, with no gaps\, and no repeats in the placement. It is called an Einstein Tile\, not after Albert Einstein\, but a play on “ein stein” in German\, meaning “one stone”. This unique shape – which looks a bit like a hat – can be constructed using kite shaped EPP units. \nIn this workshop you will learn about mathematical tilings and the recently discovered einstein monotiles. Several members will be giving Ted Talks about how they use and store scraps in their quilting.  \nWe will also have a fun scrap diving activity plus the scrappy block swap. Have scraps to donate? Please bring them in a box no larger than 12” x 12” x 12”. Scraps should be bigger than a 2” square and smaller than a fat quarter. Please be prepared to take any scraps you brought along that weren’t claimed back home with you!

DESCRIPTION:Come make the incredibly useful Magic Pouch! Sara Young will guide us through this project\, a multipurpose accessory bag that opens wide and has a diagonal zipper and carry handle.
