Every month, we’ll announce a quilt block for members to make for the following month’s guild meeting. You can make as many blocks as you want and for every block you make, you will be entered into a drawing for ALL THE BLOCKS! From there, winners can let their creativity fly with the block winnings. (Read more about swaps and block lottery.)

For August, we are collecting orphan blocks!
What’s an orphan block?
Have you finished a project but had a block leftover? Did you make a trial block to try out an idea? Did you make a block and determined it just didn’t work in the project you were working on? Then you have an orphan block! This is your chance to off load those spare blocks you have no idea what to do with.
Here are the details:
- Block Size: Maximum size 12 ½” unfinished
- Fabric: Pre-made blocks, anything goes!
Instructions:
- Check your stash, your design wall, your “I don’t know what to do with this” pile and identify any orphan blocks you have. Note: This is intended for those one-off blocks and not the piece parts of unfinished projects.
- Pick which ones you’d like to enter into the lottery – no more than 10!
- Make sure they meet the size requirement (no bigger than 12 ½” unfinished)
- Bring them to the August 10 meeting.
