Block Lottery – Inspired by Winter Blocks (January)

Every month, we’ll announce a quilt block for members to make for the following month’s guild meeting. You can make as many blocks as you want and for every block you make, you will be entered into a drawing for ALL THE BLOCKS! From there, winners can let their creativity fly with the block winnings.

For January 2026, we are collecting Inspired by Winter blocks!

Here are the details for the January block:

Description: Using the colors, themes, and chill of winter as inspiration, create a 12 ½” square unfinished block of your choice.

Block Size: 12 ½” unfinished

Fabric: winter-inspired (blues, greys, silver, white, etc), solid or patterned

Skill to Explore: applique; themed; pieced; scraps; improv

Instructions: Choose your winter inspiration. This can be as abstract as winter colors (blues and greys/silvers), the weather (snowflakes, snowballs, snow people), winter activities (skiing, ice skating, sledding), winter gear (mittens, gloves, hats, scarfs), or anything else that the chill of winter makes you think of. Find or design a block. It can be improv or you can follow a design. See below for references, including block ideas and patterns. Trim your block to 12 ½” unfinished.
