Community Giving
Our guild has grown to more than 200 members. Can we also grow our community giving? We hope so! We donate finished quilts to the Durham County Foster Program, who assists kids from infants to 21 years old.
We do want to remind members that we can only accept quilts that are at least 50″ x 60″ (throw sized) up to 70″ x 90″ (twin size). If you have larger or smaller quilts to be donated, consider reaching out to Project Linus.

We hope every guild member can join our efforts. Our committee can be contacted at communitygiving@trianglemqg.org.
How can you help?
- Donate a finished quilt! Quilts should be at least 50″ x 60″ (throw sized) and up to 70″ x 90″ (twin sized). We ask that quilts be new or stored. We cannot accept antique or well worn quilts.
- Hand off a top to be quilted! Have a top, backing and binding ready to go? The committee will coordinate with several wonderful longarmers – Meghan @apieceofquietquilts, Stacy @overthemoonquilts, and Amy @sewmindfulstudios – who have volunteered their time!
- Sew with us! You can contribute by making blocks or joining a community sew day to assemble quilts from donated blocks. We aim to have at least 4 get togethers a year.
- Take a kit of donated fabric! We have many packs of fabric curated from donations ready to be made into something amazing.
- Donate! We welcome donations of batting, binding and/or quilt backs.
Please take a moment and fill in this interest survey!
Some helpful info:
- We are always looking for more gender neutral patterns that teenagers would like.
- You can donate any time! Bring to a guild meeting, or email us for pickup/dropoff with one of the committee members.
- Quilts do not have to be “modern” – there are no requirements about style. Remember, we’re making for kids all the way up to 21!
- Have a quilt to donate or questions? Email communitygiving@trianglemqg.org.
Thanks to our wonderful volunteer LAQ team for their beautiful work. Each of them have quilted multiple quilts for our community giving project – Nadia Pshenitsyna, Sara Struhs, Shiela Tarlton, Meghan Morris, Lauri Lewis and Stephanie Knudsen.

We’ve collected some wonderful quilts already this year and would like to thank the all of our members and bees for their wonderful work.
New for 2025 – Members who contribute to our Community Giving initiative have the opportunity to earn a Community Giving Badge. Earning this badge is easy as 1-2-3! Donate 1 finished quilt OR donate 2 quilt tops OR participate in 3 community sew days/group quilts. Read more about the Quiltchievement program!
Thank you to members who donated quilts, supplies and their time – with your support, we donated 56 quilts to the Durham Foster Program in 2025!
