(Update) October Guild Meeting

(updated 10/2/26) As with quilting, sometimes things don’t go as planned and you have to pivot. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, Bianca will be unable to join us for our October meeting. We apologize for the disappointment – we were excited to host her and hope to have her attend another time!

Rest assured, our October meeting is STILL ON! Please join us on Sunday, October 11, 3-5pm, for our program titled Quilts Of Expression.
In the current era of Modern Quilting, quilts with a powerful message are ubiquitous.  We see them at QuiltCon, on social media, and in our own guild Show and Tell on a regular basis.  We know that not all statements, political, religious, or otherwise, are shared by all, but we also know that every voice has the right to speak, and seeing these expressions in quilting gives our art form an additional purpose beyond just beauty, creativity, and utility.  In October’s presentation, several of our quilters will share quilts they have made that make a specific statement.  We will also discuss the history of expressive quilting, and impactful historical quilts with a message.  Our hope is that the art we share is able to be appreciated for its form and its expression even if the sentiments may not personally align with those of every attendee. Finally, we welcome members to bring their own expressive quilts to share during our Show and Tell.

We will also be collecting stash to sell in our upcoming annual sale in our November meeting. Please bring any items in good condition that you wish to donate to the November meeting. This could include:

  • Fat quarters & larger pieces of fabric.  Please mark each fabric with the yardage rounded DOWN to the 1/4 yard. (Please don’t bring anything smaller than a FQ – save them for our annual spring Scrapapalooza!)
  • Notions
  • Books and patterns

We’ve been excited to see all the different versions of the Singularity quilt from our members and invite everyone to bring their quilt tops to the October meeting for a group picture.  If you’ve completed at least two rounds of the quilt, you have earned a QAL Quiltchievement badge! To claim your badge, record your success in this form and upload or email a photo by November 15, 2026. Your quilt does NOT need to be complete – as long as you’ve gotten at least 2 rounds done, claim your victory and keep sewing.

Also remember we just announced a new workshop with Guicy Guice – Controlled Chaos: A Foundation Paper Piecer’s Approach to Improv on November 9th. Member registration opens Saturday, October 3 at 10 am.

For our October block lottery, we will be collecting Night Garden Blocks!

Finally, in addition to your Singulalrity quilts (or quilt tops), don’t forget to bring any projects you want to share in Show and Tell portion of our meeting.
